About me
Hi!
I’m Johannes Keczan, currently studying Game Programming at The Game Assembly in Malmö.
I’ve loved video games for as long as I can remember, with a particular soft spot for 2D games. One of my earliest memories is playing Rayman 2: The Great Escape. But at some point, being a stupid kid I drew a line across the CD… not my proudest moment.
What I enjoy most within programming is gameplay, especially anything related to the player. I like figuring out how movement and controls should feel, and working closely with animators and level designers to shape a character that fits the game. For me, good controls are at the core of a great experience, whether it’s movement, combat, or just interacting with the world.
Before getting into programming, I studied music in upper secondary school, focusing on singing and guitar. We did a lot of choral singing and even put together a full musical. It’s not directly related, but it taught me a lot about working with others and being part of something bigger than your own piece.
I enjoy collaborating across disciplines and iterating on ideas together, often starting from simple MVPs and building from there.
In my free time, I of course enjoy playing video games, my favorites being metroidvanias like the Ori games and Ender Lilies. I also like playing guitar and singing, spending time outdoors and going on hikes. And last but not least, I love spending time with my two guinea pigs.
